Animation Germany – Erfolgreiche Auftaktveranstaltung beim Festival International du Film d‘ Animation d‘ Annecy 2017

Annecy, den 15. Juni 2017 – Der erste offiziell unter dem Label „Animation Germany“ organi­sierte Event „Animation Germany – Focusing on Italy“ wurde am gestrigen Mittwoch­nach­mittag, den 14. Juni, während des weltweit bedeu­tendsten Anima­ti­ons­film­fes­tivals Festival Inter­na­tional du Film d‘Animation d‘Annecy veran­staltet. Es trafen sich und disku­tierten führende Vertreter der Anima­ti­ons­film­branche aus Deutschland und dem diesjäh­rigen Partnerland Italien.

Die Veran­staltung wurde von Prof. Ulrich Wegenast, künst­le­ri­scher Geschäfts­führer der Film- und Medien­fes­tival gGmbH und Annegret Richter, Geschäfts­füh­rerin der AG Anima­ti­onsfilm e.V., eröffnet. Sie stellten die Initiative „Animation Germany“ vor, die zum Ziel hat, inter­na­tionale Kopro­duk­tionen im Bereich der Animation unter deutscher Betei­ligung zu fördern und durch profes­sio­nelle Maßnahmen zu unter­stützen. Hierzu ist u.a. jedes Jahr eine dreiteilige Veran­stal­tungs­reihe mit einem Partnerland im Fokus geplant, bei der Produ­zenten aus Deutschland und dem jewei­ligen Partnerland gezielt zusam­men­ge­führt werden sollen. Außerdem wird eine aktuelle Website (www.animationgermany.de) Produ­zenten und Studios aus Deutschland präsen­tieren und für inter­na­tionale Partner­schaften leicht zugängig machen. Ab September 2017 wird es zusätzlich einen regel­mä­ßigen Newsletter geben, der alle inter­na­tional Inter­es­sierten mit Infor­ma­tionen aus der Branche versorgen soll. Begleitet wurde die Vorstellung durch einen neu produ­zierten Trailer, der beispielhaft das Leistungs­port­folio von Anima­tions-Produ­zenten und Studios aus Deutschland präsen­tiert.

Im Anschluss an die Vorstellung der Ziele von „Animation Germany“ referierte Katharina Retzlaff, Mitar­bei­terin des Vorstands der FFA Filmför­de­rungs­an­stalt, über die deutsche Förder­land­schaft unter beson­derer Berück­sich­tigung der Möglich­keiten für inter­na­tionale Kopro­duk­tionen aus dem Anima­ti­ons­film­be­reich. Es folgte eine Präsen­tation von Sarah Belli­nazzi vom Creative Europe Media Desk in Turin zu den Förder­mög­lich­keiten des Creative Europe Programms – dem Förder­pro­gramm für Europas audio­vi­suelle Branche sowie der Kultur- und Kreativ­wirt­schaft für die Jahre 2014 bis 2020. Der erste Teil der Veran­staltung wurde abgerundet durch einem ausführ­lichen Vortrag von Gabriele Walther, Geschäfts­füh­rerin Caligari Film- und Fernseh­pro­duk­tions GmbH und Mitglied des Gesamt­vor­stands der Allianz Deutscher Produ­zenten – Film & Fernsehen e.V. (kurz: Produ­zen­ten­al­lianz). Sie präsen­tierte die deutsche Produ­zenten- und Studio­land­schaft und gab einen Überblick über die vielfäl­tigen Koope­ra­tions- und Finan­zie­rungs­mög­lich­keiten, die sich deutsch-italie­ni­schen Kopro­duk­tionen bieten. Walther verwies auf die heraus­ra­gende Bedeutung, die im europäi­schen Raum Co-Produk­tionen im Hinblick auf die Finan­zierung und Verwertung von Anima­ti­ons­pro­duk­tionen gerade auch in dem aktuellen Markt­umfeld zukommt, das durch eine wachsende inter­na­tionale Konkurrenz und einer zuneh­menden Bedeutung der Strea­ming­platt­formen gekenn­zeichnet ist. Daran schloss sich ein gut besuchtes Meet & Greet deutscher und italie­ni­scher Produ­zenten als koordi­niertem Anknüp­fungs­punkt für eine künftige erfolg­reiche Produk­tions-Zusam­men­arbeit an.

Als weitere Veran­staltung wurde von „Animation Germany“ am heutigen Donnerstag, den 15. Juni 2017, während des Festival Inter­na­tional du Film d‘Animation d‘Annecy, ein gemein­sames Frühstück der deutschen Anima­ti­ons­film­pro­du­zenten mit den Kollegen und Kolle­ginnen aus Luxemburg durch­ge­führt. Dieses Treffen stellt eine Fortsetzung des bereits beim Cartoon Forum Toulouse im Herbst 2014 begon­nenen, erfolg­reichen Dialogs zwischen Produ­zenten aus Deutschland und aus Ländern, die sich durch inter­es­sante Koope­ra­ti­ons­mög­lich­keiten auszeichnen dar.

Am 12.9. diesen Jahres ist dann bereits die nächste Veran­staltung von „Animation Germany“ geplant, diesmal auf dem Cartoon Forum Toulouse 2017.

Animation Germany ist das sich in Gründung befin­dende neue Label der deutschen Anima­tions- und VFX-Produktion. Der Fokus von „Animation Germany“ liegt auf inter­na­tio­nalen Aktivi­täten. Unter dem neu entwor­fenen Label sollen die Branchen­teil­nehmer profes­sionell vernetzt und Struk­turen entwi­ckelt werden, die inter­na­tionale Ko-Produk­tionen im Bereich von Animation und VFX insgesamt befördern und die Stärken der deutschen Anima­ti­ons­pro­duktion im Ausland sicht­barer machen.

„Animation Germany“ ist eine Initiative der Allianz Deutscher Produ­zenten – Film & Fernsehen e.V., der Film- und Medien­fes­tival gGmbH sowie der AG Anima­ti­onsfilm e.V. Für Konzept und Umsetzung ist feder­führend Tania Reichert-Facilides, Geschäfts­füh­rerin der Freebird Pictures GmbH & Co. KG und Mitglied des Sekti­ons­vor­stands der Sektion Animation in der Produ­zen­ten­al­lianz verant­wortlich. Animation Germany – Successful Launch Event at Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy 2017

Annecy, June 15th, 2017
The first official Animation Germany event, “Animation Germany – Focusing on Italy”, was organized yesterday, Wednesday June 14th, at the most prominent inter­na­tional animated film festival, Festival Inter­na­tional du Film d’Animation d’Annecy. Leading repre­sen­ta­tives of the animated film industry from Germany and from this year’s partner country, Italy, met for discussion.

The event was kicked off by Prof. Ulrich Wegenast, artistic director of Film- & Medien­fes­tival gGmbH and Annegret Richter, managing director of AG Anima­ti­onsfilm e.V. They started off by intro­ducing Initiative „Animation Germany“, which provides profes­sional services to sponsor inter­na­tional co-produc­tions with German producers in the field of animation. Given this goal, a three-part series of events with one partner country in focus is planned each year to bring together producers from Germany and the selected partner country. Furthermore, a website (www.animationgermany.de), has been designed to provide up-to-date infor­mation on producers and studios in Germany. Beginning in September 2017, a newsletter providing all essential infor­mation on this industry for parties interested in forming inter­na­tional partner­ships will be published regularly. The viewing of a newly produced trailer continued the event yesterday, exempli­fying the range of achie­ve­ments thus far accom­plished by animation producers and studios in Germany.

Following the presen­tation of Animation Germany’s objec­tives, Katharina Retzlaff, advisor of the Filmför­de­rungs­an­stalt (German Federal Film Board) board of directors, delivered a talk on the various funding programs in Germany, parti­cu­larly focusing on possi­bi­lities for inter­na­tional coope­ration in the field of animated film. Sarah Belli­nazzi from Creative Europe Media Desk in Turin then gave a presen­tation on possible funding oppor­tu­nities within Creative Europe’s program – the funding program for Europe’s audio­visual and creative indus­tries from 2014 to 2020. The first part of the event was then concluded with an detailed presen­tation by Gabriele Walther, executive director of Caligari Film- und Fernseh­pro­duk­tions GmbH and member of the Allianz Deutscher Produ­zenten – Film & Fernsehen e.V. (German Producers Alliance) board of directors. She delivered a lecture on German studios and the producing scene in Germany, offering an overview of the diverse funding oppor­tu­nities for German-Italian co-produc­tions. Walther, speci­fi­cally referring to the importance of funding and the realization of animated produc­tions, pointed to the essential role that inter­na­tional co-produc­tions currently play on the European market – where inter­na­tional compe­tition is constantly on the rise and streaming platforms are becoming ever more signi­ficant. This was followed by a well-attended meet and greet between German and Italian producers as an initial point of contact for successful coope­ration in the future.

Animation Germany has additio­nally hosted a breakfast get-together at the Festival Inter­na­tional du Film d‘ Animation d‘ Annecy for German animated film producers and their colle­agues from Luxemburg today, Thursday June 15th, 2017. This meeting represents a conti­nuation of a discussion between producers from Germany and other countries that began at Cartoon Forum Toulouse in the Spring of 2014 and has resulted in several interesting oppor­tu­nities for coope­ration.

The next part of the Animation Germany event series is planned to take place on September 12th of this year at Cartoon Forum Toulouse 2017.

Animation Germany is a new label in German animation and VFX production, still in develo­pment. Animation Germany’s focus lies on inter­na­tional activities. The newly drafted label is to bring members of the industry together and to pave the way for the realization of inter­na­tional co-produc­tions in the field of animation and VFX, as well as to highlight the accom­plish­ments of the German animation production scene abroad.
