German-European Alliances in Animation – im Fokus Belgien, Luxemburg und die Niederlande

Berlin/Toulouse, 24. September 2014 – Zum Auftakt des diesjäh­rigen Cartoon Forums in Toulouse (23. – 26. September 2014) fand am Diens­tag­nach­mittag erneut ein von der deutschen Produ­zen­ten­al­lianz initi­iertes Get Together der Anima­ti­ons­branche statt. Doch dieses Jahr waren nicht nur deutsche Vertreter anwesend. Aufbauend auf dem Erfolg im letzten Jahr wurde der Fokus der Veran­staltung um die europäi­schen Partner­länder Belgien, Luxemburg und die Nieder­lande erweitert. Unter dem Titel „German-European Alliances in Animation“ kamen Vertreter aus Deutschland und den Partner­ländern zusammen, um sich über mögliche Anknüp­fungs­punkte und zukünftige Kopro­duk­tionen auszu­tau­schen.

Eric Goossens (Walking The Dog, Belgien), Bruno Felix (Submarine, Nieder­lande) und Frede­rique Vinel (Fabrique d’Images, Luxemburg) stellten die spezi­fi­schen Rahmen­be­din­gungen in ihren Ländern für die Produktion von Anima­ti­ons­pro­jekten aus Sicht der Produ­zenten vor. Dabei setzten sie einen Fokus auf die Finan­zierung, und präsen­tierten die Möglich­keiten der staat­lichen Förde­rungen und privater Fonds. In Belgien, Luxemburg und den Nieder­lande ist die Animation ein wichtiger und wachsender Bestandteil der Produk­ti­ons­land­schaft. Dies spiegelt sich auch in den substan­ti­ellen Finan­zie­rungs­op­tionen, die insb. in Belgien und Luxemburg bestehen, wieder, die es dort nicht nur für Kinofilme, sondern auch für Anima­ti­ons­serien und deren Entwicklung gibt.

Außerdem wurden Beispiele für erfolg­reiche Kopro­duk­tionen der Länder mit Deutschland vorge­stellt und das Interesse an der Ausweitung der Geschäfts­be­zie­hungen betont.

Die Veran­staltung wurde von über vierzig Vertretern aus Deutschland, Belgien, Luxemburg und den Nieder­landen besucht. Im Anschluss wurde intensiv über Projekte und Ansätze zur Zusam­men­arbeit disku­tiert.

Fünf deutsche Länder­för­de­rungen unter­stützen auch dieses Jahr den Event der Produ­zen­ten­al­lianz, der von Tania Reichert-Facilides (Freebird Pictures) organi­siert wurde. Für die Veran­staltung wurde die Broschüre ‚Animation made in Germany’ des letzten Jahres wesentlich erweitert, so dass sie nun inter­na­tio­nalen Partnern ein umfas­sendes Bild der Branche für Anima­ti­ons­pro­jekte in Deutschland darstellt.

Die Veran­staltung wurde von FilmFern­seh­Fonds Bayern, Medien- und Filmge­sell­schaft Baden-Württemberg , Mittel­deutsche Medien­för­derung, nordmedia und Filmför­derung Hamburg-Schleswig Holstein finan­ziert.

Die Allianz Deutscher Produ­zenten – Film & Fernsehen ist die maßgeb­liche Inter­es­sen­ver­tretung der deutschen Produ­zenten von Film-, Fernseh- und anderen audio­vi­su­ellen Werken. Sie vereint ca. 220 Produk­ti­ons­un­ter­nehmen aus den Bereichen Animation, Dokumen­tation, Kinofilm, TV-Enter­tainment, TV-Fiktion und Werbung.

German-European Alliances in Animation focussing on Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands

Berlin/Toulouse, 24^th September 2014 – As a kick-off event to the annual Cartoon Forum in Toulouse (23^th –26^th September 2014), the German Producers Alliance once again hosted a Get Together of the animation industry on tuesday afternoon. But this year, not only repre­sen­ta­tives from Germany were present. Building on the success of the event in the previous years, the focus of the Get Together has been extended to include the European partner countries Belgium, Luxem­bourg and the Nether­lands. The confe­rence, entitled “German – European Alliances in Animation“, brought together repre­sen­ta­tives from Germany and their partner regions in order to discuss possible future coope­ration and copro­duc­tions.

Eric Goossens (Walking The Dog, Belgium), Bruno Felix (Submarine, Nether­lands) and Frede­rique Vinel (Fabrique d’Images, Luxem­bourg) presented the market condi­tions for animation production in their respective countries. They focused on the financing of this under­taking and presented the possi­bi­lities of state funding as well as private funds. In Belgium, Luxem­bourg and the Nether­lands, animation is an important and growing aspect of the production sector. A look at the substantial options for funding a production, parti­cu­larly in Belgium and Luxem­bourg, refects this, since these are not only available for feature films, but also for animated series and their develo­pment.

Examples of successful copro­duc­tions between Germany and the partner regions were presented and the interest in fostering these business connec­tions empha­sised.

Over fourty repre­sen­ta­tives from Germany, Belgium, the Nether­lands and Luxem­bourg parti­ci­pated in the event. After­wards, future projects and aspects of colla­bo­ra­tions were discussed.

This year, the Producers Alliance’s event, which was organised by Tania Reichert-Facilides (Freebird Pictures), was supported by five German regional film funds. For the event, the booklet “Animation made in Germany“ from 2013 was extended substan­tially in order to offer an overall picture of companies involved in production of animated content in Germany to inter­na­tional partners.

The event was sponsored by the FilmFern­seh­Fonds Bayern, the Medien- und Filmge­sell­schaft Baden-Württemberg, the Mittel­deutsche Medien­för­derung, nordmedia and the Filmför­derung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
