16. September 2015 – Zum Auftakt des diesjährigen Cartoon Forums (15. – 18. September 2015 in Toulouse) fand am Dienstagnachmittag eine von der deutschen Produzentenallianz ausgerichtete Veranstaltung zur Förderung internationaler Koproduktionen statt. Aufbauend auf dem Erfolg des vergangenen Jahres wurde der Fokus der Veranstaltung dieses Jahr auf die europäischen Partnerländer Polen, Estland, Lettland und Litauen gerichtet. Das Cartoon Forum ist der größte jährliche Branchentreff der europäischen Animationsindustrie mit über 900 Teilnehmern.
Zofia Ścisłowska (Projektkoordinatorin SPPA – Allianz Polnischer Animations-Produzenten), Kristel Töldsepp (A Film, Estland), Sabine Andersone (Atom Art, Lettland) und Agne Adomene (Art Shot, Litauen) stellten die Rahmenbedingungen für Animation in ihrer Region vor, die über eine lange Animationstradition verfügt.
Alle Länder haben in den letzten Jahren Förderstrukturen speziell für Animation installiert. Alle baltischen Staaten verfügen zusätzlich über steuergestützte Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten, die die Produktionskosten in Höhe von bis zu 30% entlasten (cash rebate und tax incentive). In Estland und Polen gibt es zudem Fördertöpfe ausschließlich für Animation.
Im Anschluss präsentierte Nicola Jones (FFA, Deutschland) die Rahmenbedingungen der Filmförderung in Deutschland auf Länder- und Bundesebene.
Erstmalig wird die Veranstaltung von einer Ausschreibung begleitet. So können sich Projekte mit Produktionspartnern aus Deutschland und einem der Fokusländer, die sich aus dieser Veranstaltung ergeben, beim Animation Production Day 2016 bewerben. Die Ausschreibung wird vom APD gefördert. Der Animation Production Day ist der bedeutendste auf Animationsprojekte spezialisierte Koproduktions- und Kofinanzierungsmarkt in Deutschland.
Die Veranstaltung wurde von gut 70 Vertretern aus Deutschland, Polen, Estland, Lettland und Litauen besucht. Im Anschluss wurde intensiv über Projekte und Ansätze zur Zusammenarbeit diskutiert.
Sechs deutsche Länderförderungen unterstützen dieses Jahr den Event der Produzentenallianz, der von Tania Reichert-Facilides (Freebird Pictures) organisiert wurde. Die Veranstaltung wurde von FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Filmförderung Hamburg-Schleswig Holstein, Film- und Medienstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg , Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung und nordmedia Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen finanziert.
Die Broschüre ‚Animation made in Germany’, die anlässlich dieser Veranstaltung grundlegend aktualisiert und erweitert wurde, kann online von der Webseite der Produzentenallianz heruntergeladen oder über Freebird Pictures als Druckversion erworben werden.

German – European Alliances in Animation – with focus on Poland and the Baltic states
Berlin/Toulouse, 16th September – As a kick-off event to this years Cartoon Forum (September 15th -18th, 2015 in Toulouse) the German Producers Alliance hosted an event to strengthen the international co-production. Building on the success of the event in 2014, which had focused on the countries Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, this year’s conference highlighted the European partner countries Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. The Cartoon Forum is Europe’s biggest annual meeting for the animation industry with over 900 participants.
Zofia Ścisłowska (Project Coordinator at SPPA, Association of Polish animation producers), Kristel Töldsepp (A Film Animation Studio, Estonia), Sabine Andersone (Atom Art, Latvia), Agné Adoméné (Art Shot, Lithuania) presented the structure for producing animation in their countries, that have a long and rich tradition in animation.
In recent years the Baltic countries have established funding structures that support animation in particular. On top they introduced cash rebates and tax incentives. In Estonia and Poland there are additional funds exclusively dedicated to animation.
At the end of the official part of the conference Nicola Jones (FFA, Germany) presented the system of regional and federal film funding in Germany.
For the first time the event is accompanied by a call for tender. The Animation Production Day in Stuttgart, the most important co-producing and co-financing platform in terms of animation in Germany, plans to support co-productions between Germany and one of the focus countries (find information from beginning of October under www.animationproductionday.de and www.freebirdpictures.de.
More than seventy participants from Germany, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia joined the event. Following the country presentations, future projects and approaches for further collaborations were discussed.
This year, the German Producers Alliance’s event, which was organized by Tania Reichert-Facilides (Freebird Pictures), was supported and sponsored by six German regional film funds: the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, the Film und Medienstiftung Nordrein-Westfalen, the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and nordmedia Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen.

The German Producers Alliance is the most influential German producers association. More than 230 members represent the major part of all German production companies working in animated film, documentary, feature film, TV drama, TV entertainment and advertising film production.
