Michelle Müntefering war von 2013 bis 2025 Bundestagsabgeordnete für den Wahlkreis Herne-Bochum II, zudem u.a. Sprecherin der SPD-Bundestagsfraktion für Kultur und Medien (Januar bis März 2018), Mitglied im Unterausschuss für Kultur und Medien (2013 bis März 2018), Sprecherin der SPD-Bundestagsfraktion im Unterausschuss Auswärtige Kultur- und Bildungspolitik (2015 bis 2017). Als Staatsministerin für Internationale Kulturpolitik im Auswärtigen Amt war sie von 2018 bis 2021 Teil des Bundeskabinetts und zuständig für Internationale Kulturpolitik. Zwischen 2021 und 2025 war sie Vorsitzende des Unterausschusses für Auswärtige Kultur- und Bildungspolitik sowie Filmpolitische Sprecherin der SPD-Bundestagsfraktion.

Michelle Müntefering was a Member of the Bundestag for the Herne-Bochum II constituency from 2013 to 2025, and also served, among other roles, as spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group on culture and media (January to March 2018), a member of the Sub-Committee on Culture and Media (2013 to March 2018), and spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group on the Sub-Committee on Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy (2015 to 2017). As Minister of State for International Cultural Policy at the Federal Foreign Office, she was a member of the Federal Cabinet from 2018 to 2021 and responsible for international cultural policy. Between 2021 and 2025, she was Chair of the Sub-Committee on Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy and spokesperson on film policy for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag.
